hakia.com Raises Total Funding to $21 Million

New investment will drive building of Semantic Advertising Platform and European datacenter

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, -- January 7, 2008 - hakia.com, the Web's new meaning-based search engine, announced today that it has raised $5 million investment from Prokom Investments S.A., a current shareholder. This transaction raises the total of all shareholder investment capital in hakia to $21 million. The new funds will be instrumental to hakia.com as it builds a semantic advertising platform and a European datacenter.

According to Dr. Riza Berkan, founder and CEO of hakia, "We understand the responsibility of each investment and hakia.com's role in driving search to the next level. We are nearing the end of our first development stage and will use this investment to build our semantic advertising platform."

Some private investors include Dr. Pentti Kouri, who is also a co-founder, a New York-based economist and venture capitalist; Lu Pat Ng, representing his family from Malaysia who has substantial investments worldwide. Murat Vargi; one of the founding shareholders of Turkcell, the leading GSM operator of Turkey and the only NYSE-listed Turkish company.
